Built in 1824 at Fort Claiborne, it is the oldest building in Monroe County.  It served as the Monroe County Courthouse until 1832, when the county seat was moved to Monroeville.

The Perdue Hill courthouse, now officially Masonic Lodge No. 3, was moved to its current location in 1884.
