The Powhatan courthouse, designed by D.A. McKinnon, was built in 1888 and was restored in 1973 by Little, Maddox And Standefer Architects.
The brick historic Lawrence County Courthouse, part of the Powhatan Historic State Park, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
