Designed by Rusty And Martin, the Port Lavaca courthouse was built in 1959.

The concrete, steel and aluminum Calhoun County Courthouse is the county’s fourth, and the second to be built in Port Lavaca after the county seat was relocated from Indianola after Indianola was destroyed by hurricanes twice in 11 years (1875 and 1886).
