Designed by James E. Flanders, the Albany courthouse, which combines Second Empire and Italianate elements, was completed in 1883.
The Shackelford County Courthouse was rededicated in 2001 upon the completion of renovations. The structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Texas Historic Landmark.
