Photos of the Alabama State Capitol in Montgomery. Designed by Barachias Holt and completed in 1851, the Greek Revival building served as the first capitol of the Confederacy. The Alabama State Capitol is a National Historic Landmark.

Photos of the Alaska State Capitol in Juneau. Constructed between 1929 and 1931, the building, originally known as the Federal And Territorial Building, became the Alaska State Capitol after Alaska gained statehood in 1959.

Photos of the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix. Designed by J. Riely Gordon and constructed between 1898 and 1901, the building served as the territorial capitol until Arizona was granted statehood in 1912. The building continued to serve as the state capitol, but the small and cramped nature of the building eventually forced all official government functions to be moved to adjoining buildings. Now a museum, the Arizona State Capitol is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Photos of the Arkansas State Capitol in Little Rock. Constructed between 1899 and 1915 and designed by George R. Mann and, later, Cass Gilbert, the Arkansas State Capitol, a Classical Revival structure, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Photos of the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta. The Renaissance Revival building, designed by Willoughby J. Edbrooke and Franklin P. Burnham, was completed in 1889. The Georgia State Capitol is a National Historic Landmark.

Photos of the Hawaii State Capitol in Honolulu. Designed in a collaboration between John Carl Warnecke and Belt, Lemmon And Lo, the Hawaii State Capitol is surrounded by a reflecting pool, symbolizing the Pacific Ocean, with the rotunda opening to the sky. Both legislative chambers are cone-shaped, symbolizing the volcanoes which formed the Hawaiian Islands. The Hawaii State Capitol, completed in 1969, is part of the Hawaii Capital Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
