Renovations to the Wise County Courthouse in Decatur, Texas are nearing completion.
Work on renovating the Decatur courthouse began in 2023. The restoration work was originally estimated to cost $8.5 million, but, as is common with such projects, a new maximum renovation cost of $14.6 million has been set.
Premier Commercial Group is in charge of the renovations, which are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.
Designed by J. Riely Gordon, the Decatur courthouse was completed in 1896. The Wise County Courthouse, a Richardsonian Romanesque structure made of Texas pink granite, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Texas Historic Landmark.
