Designed by Phillip Murray, the Charlotte courthouse was built in 1812 and is the oldest working courthouse in Tennessee.

The historic Dickson County Courthouse, a brick Federal structure, is part of the Charlotte Courthouse Square Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
