Photos of the Old St. Louis County Courthouse in St. Louis, Missouri. Originally designed by Lavielle And Morton as a combined federal and state courthouse, the St. Louis courthouse was completed in 1828. The building was expanded in remodelings in both 1839 and 1851. The cast iron dome, modeled on St. Peter's Basilica, was completed in 1864. The courthouse became city property when the city of St. Louis and St. Louis County split in 1877. The Old St. Louis County Courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
