Images of three new-to-me buildings have been added to Capitolshots Photography’s collection of Delaware courthouses: the new Kent County Courthouse in Dover, the historic City And County Building in Wilmington, and the historic New Castle County Courthouse in New Castle.
I also revisted and reshot the New Castle County Justice Center in Wilmington. This New Castle County courthouse was one of the very first buildings I photographed with my professional gear in 2008, and I was never thrilled with the results. I’m glad I had an opportunity to photograph it again.
The historic New Castle courthouse was easily the most interesting of these buildings. Built in 1730, it is one of the oldest courthouses still in existence in the United States. It’s a rather historic building, too. In 1776, Delaware declared its independence not just from England but from Pennsylvania as well within its walls.
