The Clarksville courthouse was designed by G.W. Bunting. The brick structure was built in 1879 and rebuilt in 1900 after a fire. It was subsequently severely damaged by a 1999 tornado. The Montgomery County Courthouse, a Second Empire structure, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
