Designed by Eugene T. Heiner and originally completed in 1889, the courthouse was restored back to its original design in 2006. The Wharton County Courthouse, a Texas Historic Landmark, is part of the Wharton County Courthouse Historic Commercial District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
